Cifuentes, O’Hara fire up Devils

first_imgThe (2-2) Islanders and the (0-4) Devils are probably not going to catch the (4-0) Penguins in the JCC of Bayonne Sr. Division Floor Hockey standings but a strong outing in preparation for the “Championship Tournament” will go a long way as to learning what it will take to bring home the “Gold”. With only twelve goals to their credit thus far, a fast start for the Devils was impressive as Alejandro Cifuentes and Ethan Bustamante put their squad up 2-0. Playing in his best game of the season for the Isles, Kasper Hooks drilled his first goal of the year making it 2-1, Devils. Returning to their newly found offensive fire power the Devils’ Alejandro Cifuentes chalked up two more goals to increase the Devils’ lead to 4-1. Just before the halfway point the Islanders cashed in on a power play goal by Anthony Baez as David Matos picked up his second assist. Up 4-2, the Devils defense dug in with the amazing Aaliyana Cifuentes guarding the net like a Cerberus. With their “big guns” Tristian Wolenski and Marek Mickiewicz attending their Spring concert, the Islanders made a desparate move by pulling their goalie for the last ten minutes. At first, the move seemed to be working as Chris Ballance and Mariam Rasslan each got open shots on net but that quickly changed. Going back to their base offensive attack the Devils started to rack up goals as Kailey Delauter (1 goal), Alejandro Cifuentes (3 goals, 1 assist), Ethan Bustamante (1 goal, 1 assist), and Kyle O’Hara (1 goal, 4 assists) piled up points as the Devils moved into the win column with a 10-2 victory.last_img
