Â by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow â€” The following are a list of criminal court complaints recently filed by the Sumner County Attorney’s office.These are formal charges introduced into the Sumner County District Court system. The suspects listed in the complaint have not been tried by a judge or jury. All citizens are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Patricia Reyes, born in 1988, of Wellington was charged in district court with theft, a Class A misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor. She later was charged with failing to appear in court, a Class B misdemeanor.According to the court complaint, on July 30, 2013 at 1:21 a.m. at the 1415 Michigan Apt. D in Wellington, Reyes was arguing with two people in the area. During the argument, she locked herself in a car owned by one of the people she was arguing with. The other person then called the police, and Reyes allegedly got out of the car with $510 worth of property including a cell phone, nameplate, and backpack and started running. The two other people caught up with her and they got into a shoving and shouting match.At the time of the incident, Reyes had an outstanding warrant for her arrest on an earlier misdemeanor. She had failed to show up for court on May 23 thus forfeiting her appearance bond and a warrant was placed upon her for failing to surrender herself within 30 days after being charged. At a district court review hearing on June 27, the bondsman reported she had not yet been located.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Nancy Leverenz, born in 1983, of Wellington was charged with theft, a level 9 felony.Somewhere between Aug. 23 and Sept. 14, 2012, Leverenz allegedly took an iPad, three perfume bottles, a baker’s shelf rack, miscellaneous shelves, a rug, a Playstation 3 controller, a laptop sleeve, a dual DVD player, paper towels, a Playstation 3 game, an some earbud headphones from Wal-Mart. The merchandise was valued at $949.54 at the time.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Chandra Bray, born in 1990, of Wellington was charged with theft, a level 9 felony.Bray allegedly took food items, electronic items, health and beauty items, clothes and an I-Pad valued at $1,616.62 from Wellington Wal-Mart between Aug. 23, and Sept. 14, 2012.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Shannon Pruitt, born in 1975, of Wellington was charged with theft, a Level 9 felony.Pruitt allegedly took $81.31 of food items from Wellington Wal-Mart between Sept. 6 and 15, 2012.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Christina Chandler, born in 1992, of Wellington was charged with theft, a Level 9 felony.Chandler allegedly stole food items, health and beauty items, clothes, diapers, and other miscellaneous items valued at $282.17 from Wellington Wal-Mart between Aug. 27 and Sept. 16, 2012.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Morgan Gonzales, born in 1993, of Wellington was charged with theft, a Level 9 felony.Gonzales allegedly stole clothes, a phone jack, a bath and shower chair, and other miscellaneous items from Wellington Wal-Mart valued at $277.92 between Sept. 2 and Sept. 19, 2012.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Erma Barnes, born in 1993, of Wellington was charged with theft, a Level 9 felony.Barnes allegedly stole food items, health and beauty items, clothes, diapers, and other miscellaneous items from Wal-Mart valued at $107.16 between Aug. 27, and Sept. 19, 2012.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢ Thomas Atterbury, born in 1968, of Derby was charged with driving while license was suspended or revoked, a second offense for him that carries mandatory five days in jail. He also was charged with possession of marijuana, a level 5 drug felony. He had three previous convictions in Sedgwick County, and twice in Butler County.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Christopher Short, born in 1991, of Wichita was charged with possession of narcotic drugs, a level 5 drug felony; criminal use of weapons, a Class B misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and defective brake lights, a traffic infraction.Allegedly on Aug. 23, 2013, Short had possession of Percocet, an oxycodone, inside a clear glass bottle; a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun; and marijuana.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢ Henry Castro, born in 1975, of Wellington was charged with three counts of criminal use of a financial card, a Class A misdemeanor; and forgery, a level 8 felony.Castro is accused of:â€¢On August 4, 2013 using a Security State Bank debit card without the consent of the cardholder to obtain goods valued at $58.20;â€¢On August 5, 2013 using a SSB debit card without owner’s consent for items valued at $111.14;â€¢On August 5, 2013 using a SSB debit card without owner’s consent for items valued at $4;â€¢On July 28, 2013, made a check payable to Dollar General Store in Wellington without owner’s consent.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Shawn Rice, born in 1983, of Geuda Springs was charged with driving while suspended or revoked license, a Class B misdemeanor; fleeing or eluding a police officer, a class B misdemeanor; and criminal deprivation of property, a Class A misdemeanor.Rice is accused of on Aug. 20, 2013 driving with a suspended license when she willfully failed or refused to bring the vehicle to a stop when the Sheriff Deputy had turned on his visual or audible signal emergency lights on his police car.Rice allegedly also had a .22 caliber pistol that belonged to someone else without his consent.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Brant Mitchell Schmidt, born in 1978, of Caldwell was charged with DUI – his fourth conviction of his lifetime – which is a non-grid felony and requires a mandatory 90 days in jail, maximum one year sentence and mandatory $2,500 fine.According to the district court docket he had DUIs in 2003, 2006 and 2011. He was also charged with transporting an open container, an unclassified misdemeanor and a fine of $200 and six months in jail.Schmidt is accused of attempting to operate a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher on Aug. 18, 2013.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Anita Whiteside, born in 1955, of South Haven was charged with domestic battery, a Class B misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct , a Class C misdemeanor.Whiteside is accused of throwing soda from a cup on another person and using angry words to arouse alarm, anger, or resentment of others.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Jeffrey Vap, born in 1964, was charged with theft, a level 9 felony and deceptive commercial practice, a class B misdemeanor.Vap is accused of willfully obtaining deceptive control over property. Allegedly, Vap misrepresented himself to two individuals in that he was an insured and bonded contractor with five current licenses and he would complete a construction job within about two weeks.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Travis Singleton, born in 1973, of Oxford was charged with domestic battery, a Class B misdemeanor.On July 21, Singleton is accused of causing physical contact with a family member.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Curtis Everhart, born in 1982, of Wellington was charged with battery, a Class B misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.Everhart is accused of getting in a fight with John Cordray in the jail. He also allegedly used abusive language that caused the fight.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Gerald Smith, born in 1949, of Wichita was charged with five counts of burglary of a dwelling, level 7 felonies; two counts of theft, level 9 felonies; and three counts of theft, Class A misdemeanors.On March 1, Smith is accused of breaking into the home:â€¢at 1771 S. Oliver in South Haven and stealing a High Point 9 MM semi-automatic firearm and frozen meat valued at $440;â€¢at 1221 E. 180th St. in South Haven and stealing a 32-inch LCD Vizio TV, 42-inch LCD Apex TV, Zebra pendant, necklace and turquoise pendant valued at about $918;â€¢at 1275 S. Rock in Geuda Springs and stealing a Nikon 35 mm camera, lap top computer and 42-inch LG flat screen TV valued at about $1,500;â€¢at 1375 E. 100th St. in Geuda Springs and stealing a lady’s diamond wedding ring, wooden jewelry box, and other jewelry and firearms valued at $2,300;â€¢at 1323 E. 150th St. in Geuda Springs and stealing a cordless telephone, gold diamond ring, and seven antique silver dollars, valued at $1,292.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Ronald Yeager, born in 1946, of Belle Plaine was charged with two counts of sexual battery, Class A misdemeanors; and indecent liberties with a child, a level 5 felony.Yeager is accused of on July 1 intentionally touching a 25-year-old girl without her consent with the intention to arouse or satisfy his sexual desires while she was visiting him.He is also accused of intentionally fondling another woman, age 18.On July 1, 2013, he is then accused of lewd fondling or touching a 15-year-old girl.The case is continue to Sept. 19 for a preliminary hearing.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢John Peterman, born in 1974, of Wellington was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 drug felony; possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.Peterman is accused of having a spoon with methamphetamine on it and a small bag containing meth in his house at 717 South G Street.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Gage Dunn, born in 1994, of Tulsa was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Devin Ouano, born in 1983, of Wichita was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, a level 4 drug felony; possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, level 5 drug felonies; no drug tax stamp, level 10 felony; criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a level 8 felony; failure to signal for turn; and driving without a valid license in possession, a Class C misdemeanor.Ouano is accused of having a clear bag with crystalline substance in his pants pocket, a substance field tested positive for meth. A digital scale was also allegedly found in the vehicle inside a backpack with a white crystalline substance on it. Also another digital scale was found in the glove box with marijuana on it.Ouano was operating a vehicle in Caldwell and was turning right onto Central Avenue without giving a signal on Aug. 17, 2013 when stopped. He also allegedly had a Colt 1911 .45 caliber hand gun sitting on the center console underneath a red bandana, and the defendant within 10 years preceding such possession had been convicted of a criminal threat.His disposition is scheduled for Oct. 3.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Justin Harrington, born in 1995, of Tulsa, Okla. was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.Harrington is accused of having marijuana and a glass pipe in his pickup.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Drexler Thach, born in 1993, of Wichita was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.Thach is accused on August 17, 2013 of having a scale located in the glove compartment and marijuana.His court deposition is scheduled for Oct. 3.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Jessica Schiltz, born in 1989, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, was charged with possession of marijuana, a level 5 drug felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.Schiltz is accused on Aug. 10, 2013 of having marijuana in the bottom of her purse and having a prior conviction of possessing marijuana in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.Her court disposition is set for Oct. 3.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Heather Wetter, born in 1984, of Wellington was charged with criminal use of a financial card, a Class A misdemeanor.Wetter is accused of fraudulently obtaining goods, property, or services using a financial card, without the consent of the owner between Aug. 19 and 20, 2013. She used the American Express credit card to purchase $561 in merchandise.Her court disposition is set for Sept. 19.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Rachelle Ward, born in 1969, of Wellington is charged with criminal use of a financial card, a Class A misdemeanor; and three counts of theft, all Class A misdemeanors of merchandise under $1,000.Ward is accused of using an American Express card without the consent of the owner. She purchased $798 of goods, property or services on Aug. 19 and 20, 2013.She then allegedly obtained $200 cash money using the card. Ward is also accused of taking $60 cash money from the Kevin Beggs Fund. Allegedly, she also stole a futon worth $200 from Wellington Wal-Mart.Her court disposition is set for Sept. 19.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢William Schwandt, born in 1986, of Willmar, Minn. was charged with robbery, a level 5 felony; criminal threat, a level 9 felony; assault, a Class A misdemeanor; and criminal deprivation of property, a Class A misdemeanor.On Sept. 2, Schwandt is accused of feloniously taking a blanket from another person who was using it to cover himself inside a jail cell.Â Schwandt then allegedly threatened the jail cellmate he was going to kill him after he supposedly “ratted him out.”Schwandt’s court disposition is Sept. 19.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Josefa Rodiguez, born in 1989, of Bartlesville, Okla. was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, a level 4 drug felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a level 5 drug felony; no drug tax stamp, a level 10 felony; unlawful acts involving proceeds derived from violations of 21-5701 through 21-5717, a level 4 drug felony in the value of the proceeds is at least $5,000 but less than $100,000; and illegal U-turn, an unclassified misdemeanor.On Aug. 23, 2013, Rodriguez was stopped after making an illegal U-Turn. She is then accused of having marijuana individually packaged in three clear plastic baggies, all of which were inside a black back pack inside her vehicle and an electronic scale under the driver’s seat of the car.She also had $5,100 in U.S. currency located in the console of the vehicle, and the money was allegedly obtained through transactions involving controlled substances.Rodiguez court disposition is Oct. 3.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Jami Byers, born in 1978, of Wellington was charged with aggravated battery, a level 7 felony; and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.Byers is accused of on Sept. 5 using a minivan to intentionally hit another person by quickly accelerating towards him, and hitting his house after the van struck him. She was also accused of screaming at the person.Byers had a $25,000 bond and was to have no contact with alleged victim. Her court disposition is set for today.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Rebecca Gonzales, born in 1975, of Caldwell was charged with domestic battery, a Class B misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor. Margarita Castaneda, born in 1953, of Caldwell is charged with domestic battery, a Class B misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a class C misdemeanor.Gonzales and Casteneda are household members both accused of striking one another several times with a closed fist and pulling each other’s hair. They allegedly were yelling obscenities while engaging and brawling with the other.â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢â€¢Charles Thomas, born in 1972, of Wellington was charged with interference with law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; leaving the scene of an accident of property damage under $1,000; and failure to report accident, a Class C misdemeanor.Thomas is accused on August 22 of intentionally obstructing a deputy by lying about circumstances of a defendant’s car accident by telling the officer that the car was stolen, knowing that such information is false and impeded the progress of the officer from carrying out his duties.The defendant also allegedly left the scene of the accident for which the property damage was under $1,000 and then not reporting it immediately.
