Tweet this comment Cancel Submit Comment Subscribe to None Replies All new comments Gus Collinsby Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Wellington City Manager Gus Collins announced today that he is taking the job as Director of the City of Winfield Natural Gas and Wastewater Management. His position will begin Aug. 4.Collins announced his resignation as city manager on April 22 and will finish his work here on June 1.In the meantime, Collins said Wellington has received eight to 10 applications for the city manager position already. The job is being advertised up until July 7 for which the Wellington City Council will then decide whether or not to appoint a committee or select a deserving candidate itself.“Wellington is a town that is generating a lot of interest,” Collins said. “We haven’t had this ad up for very long and the applications are flowing in at a significant pace.” Collins said he anticipates a city manager will be hired this summer. He said he is only facilitating the paperwork to hire a replacement, but will not participate in the city manager hiring decision.Wellington City Clerk Shane Shields was named Interim City Manager until a full-time city manager is hired.
