Port Moresby are 2015 women’s softball champs

first_imgPort Moresby did it easy, taking a 4-0 lead after two innings. The first run was scored by a hit from veteran Antonia Kinit.Kinit herself came home in the next play. Two more runs were scored before three down was called.It was Port Moresby again who added another two runs in the third inning to put themselves 6 points in front.The duo of pitcher Selina Karai and her catcher Kinit restricted the Madang batters from getting on base.By the top of the sixth inning, Port Moresby made a change in the pitching, resting Karai.Madang used this to their advantage and opened the scoring through a power hit from Priscilla Mocke that allowed Carol Apelis to run home.Advancing to third base, Mocke was brought home thanks to a safe hit from Fedelma Takaili.The Moresby girls maintained their cool and got the next two outs to keep the pressure on Madang.With a full base situation,  Kinit went up to bat and smacked the ball to the right outfield that brought home all three runners.The mercy rule was then applied with the game called off at the bottom of the sixth inning.Port Moresby Gold finished undefeated at the championships.last_img
