Beatton Airport Road Fire update – April 23 – 12 p.m.

JOHN, B.C. –  An evacuation alert remains in place for the Beatton Airport Road Fire, 50km north west of Fort St. John.According to the latest update, the fire is still 6,300 hectares and only 5 per cent contained.  The Forest Service expects the area to receive 5 to 10 mm of rain.  There are 53 B.C. Wildfire firefighters, B.C. Hydro personnel, 4 pieces of heavy equipment, and 2 helicopters assigned to this fire.  The cause of this fire is still under investigation.The evacuation alert is in effect for the following area:  From 12501 Highway 97N south to the intersection at 258 Road, East to the intersection of 283 Road, North 6.5 km continuing Northwest 9 km to the Beatton Airport Road, West 14962 PDR 204 back to 12501 at Highway 97N. – Advertisement -See this map provided by the Peace River Regional District.evacuationYou can also view a pdf of this map, by clicking here.The Forest Service has also released a map that shows the approximate location of the fire.  We have included the map below.Advertisement You can also view a pdf of this map, by clicking here.The cool wet weather has helped to slow down all the forest fires in the region.  There were no new forest fires in the last 24 hours.The East Pine fire is now 100 per cent contained and crews are working to mop up the fire.  The Lone Prairie fire near Chetwynd is 50 per cent contained.To view the latest info on all the fires in the Province go here:
