first_imgMauro Icardi believes he was right to extend his contract with Inter Milan and snub the interest of Chelsea and Manchester City.The striker finished joint top scorer in Serie A with Luca Toni after finding the net 22 times last season.That form attracted interest from clubs all over Europe, including the Premier League pair of Chelsea and Manchester City.But the 22-year-old has now rejected the chance to leave by signing a deal until 2019 with Inter.“It’s been a great week and I’m pleased to have extended my contract,” Icardi told Inter Channel.“It’s a fantastic thing for me and for Inter. I’m confident the club will do everything it can to build a great team and get back to winning ways.“We’re a young squad and I’m sure players will come in that will help us to improve.
