Rowing Picked Sixth In 2016 MAAC Preseason Poll

first_imgEDISON, N.J. – The Drake University rowing team has been picked to finish sixth in the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason poll as voted on by the conference’s 10 head coaches, the MAAC office announced on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Defending champion Jacksonville University has been tabbed as the 2016 preseason favorite with 88 points while last season’s runner-up, Marist College, was picked second with 80 points and Canisius College and Fairfield University tied for third with 66 points. Robert Morris University with 45 points was picked just in front of Drake with 42 points. Rounding out the poll is Iona College (39 points), Stetson University (34 points), Sacred Heart University (22 points) and Manhattan College (12 points). Drake begins its spring competition schedule with a spring break training trip in mid-March to Tuscaloosa, Ala., where at the end of the week the Bulldogs will compete against Alabama and Jacksonville on March 19. The 2016 MAAC Women’s Rowing Championships will take place on May 15 at Mercer Country Park in West Windsor, N.J. Print Friendly Versionlast_img
